These photo sessions are done in studio at our Silver Lakes Photography Studio – not on location or outdoors.

Please take note that Gordon Harris Photography is the only photographer allowed to photograph on the university grounds. We can’t attend your graduation or take your photos outside the venue.
Please note that we do not provide the gowns, sashes or caps.
You must rent these from the official graduation outfitters.

During your 20 minute photo session I will take as many photos as possible.
Afterwards you will receive a link to the gallery where you can view your images and make your selection.

All images are colour corrected and digitally enhanced.
Teeth and eyes can be whitened on request. Skin smoothing can also be done as well as bags under the eyes be removed.
Any advanced editing will be subject to an additional charge of R100 per image. Examples of advanced editing:- removing of double chins, changing colour of shirts, filling in hairline or creating hair volume, etc.

All images will be in colour, you can also select some images to be in black and white or with a filter.
Please allow ±two weeks for editing to be completed and photo gallery to be uploaded.

Food photography gives me the chance to play around with mood and drama… lighting and styling… creative thoughts and technical know-how.
Lighting
I seldom use natural light only.
Manipulating studio light to create mood and feel is what I prefer.
I make use of a variety of lights, reflectors and flags to create my images.
Styling and Props
All the styling in these images was done by me.
The props and styling aids also belong to the studio.
In the above image I used a large softbox on the right hand side to mimic window light.
I also used a white reflector on the left hand side to lift out the dark shadows.
In the above image I used small spot lights to lift out certain spots like the tomatoes and parmesan.
By using hands in some of my images I create a personal feel.

Product Photography is a very important side of advertising and marketing of any product.
It is the potential client’s first introduction to your product. You need to make sure that you get this step right.
If you fail, clients can easily believe that your product is of an inferior quality.
Your potential client should feel that they need this product.
The product must therefore look inviting and create a certain mood that suits the product. For example, bath products should give a clean, fresh feeling.
Photographers create the feel and look of an image by using a variety of lighting set-ups and sometimes props.
You, as the client will have different uses for different styles of images depending on the platform that the image will be used for, e.g. advertorial in a magazine, billboard or e-commerce websites and/or social media.
In the case of e-commerce sites, clients will usually require packshots.
Packshots are images of your products or product ranges, displaying the packaging, labels and appearance of products.
We will normally photograph these products on a white background in the form of a production line. One lighting set-up will be used and hardly ever will props or styling be introduced.
I obviously charge less for these kinds of photo sessions than for an advertorial product shoot that requires specialised lighting and styling.
Costing will be determined on the amount of products that must be photographed. I charge per hour. Please feel free to contact me for a discussion and quote.

When it comes to specialised product photography, the ball game changes. It will usually involve a complex lighting set-up, styling, creating of a mood and props.
These photo sessions takes time and patience. It is normally done for just one product or a small range.
This will also include more difficult to photograph products, e.g. products with chrome writing or shiny surfaces. Products that create glare or some difficult to photograph liquids.

So clearly, not all requirements for product photography are the same and I can therefore not charge the same for packshots as I would for specialised product photography.

Lastly, when it comes to your products, please make sure that you provide me with clean, high quality products.
If I have to apply a lot of post production editing to your product to make it appear perfect, you will have to pay for the extra time spent on editing.
Small imperfections like skew labels, scratches or bad printing on labels will make my work harder and cost you more.

The food that I photograph must be a feast for your eyes.
Just by looking at the image you should feel like your other senses are also ignited.

A Baby is a Blessing A Gift from Heaven above A Precious Little Angel To Cherish and to Love.
A baby is a blessing indeed. Such a special time in any couples life.
You are now a mommy… a daddy… a family. Bonded together. Why not capture this special moment with some special photos?
Years from now, you will be able to look back at these images and reflect on how tiny your baby was. How tiny his toes were.
How small her little button nose was. The absolute perfection of your newborn baby.
Picksees Photography would love to assist you in creating these memories.
I do NOT travel for newborn sessions. I have a large amount of props, lighting equipment, and backdrops and it would not be feasible to travel with the quality of work I do.
I do all my newborn photo sessions in my studio in Silver Lakes, Pretoria East. You are welcome to contact me for special arrangements if you perhaps have a special needs baby, child or just circumstances that makes it difficult for you to travel.
How does it work?
Please email or whatsapp me to discuss availability.
Ideally, my preference from experience, is that newborns between 4-10 days old take the best photos.
After 10 days old the babies starts to stretch their limbs out a little more and are awake for longer periods of time.
However, if your baby is older than 10 days don’t fret, I will still get amazing photos. It might just take longer.
During your photo session I will take as many photos as possible. Afterwards you will receive a link to the gallery where you can view your images and make your selection.
The amount of images in the gallery will depend on how much time we had to shoot and how many images your package provides for.
If you are late, you will receive less images due to time constraints.
I will take photos of mom, dad and siblings during the same session. No additional session has to be booked for family photos.
We have a small and intimate studio. Our studio can accommodate 5 people at the most.
On the day of the shoot:-
Make sure baby has a nice, full tummy before you leave the house to come to the studio. This way, the baby will still be full and has probably fallen asleep in the car. I can immediately get started on the session when you arrive and hopefully get an hour or two of photos done before baby needs a feeding break.
I also recommend parents trying to keep their baby awake in the couple hours leading up to the session. If the baby has slept all morning and then arrives at my studio, they just might be ready for a long awake period, which makes the job of getting them sleepy all that much harder.
So, some tips are to play with baby, talk with baby, maybe even give the baby a bath before the session – whatever it takes to keep them alert for an hour or so. Then, when they arrive in my studio, they’ll be ready for a long nap!
Bring the baby in a button-up or zip-up sleeper. Preferably a loose fitting one. One of the worst things is when baby arrives sleepy in his/her carseat and then you have to remove shoes and socks, pants, and take a shirt off over their heads – which almost always wakes them up.
Instead, it’s so, so simple to zip down and slip off pyjamas while baby remains asleep! And if the pyjamas are loose-fitting, then ideally there won’t be many lines left behind on the baby’s skin. You can even bring your newborn in only a diaper and covered with a blanket. This minimizes lines on the baby’s skin for photos.
DO NOT forget the dummy!! If the baby takes a dummy, you can trust me
that you’ll want it there during the session!
My studio is HOT. Please dress lightly. This is for your babies comfort.
I have many, many props/sets/backdrops that we have collected for boys and girls. If you see a certain set design, style or backdrop on our website that you would like me to recreate with your newborn, it is important to let me know BEFORE you arrive so I can prepare. If you do not have any particular requests then I will choose and design the custom sets and have them ready before you arrive.
If you would like to
bring any additional props for the photo session – letters, numbers, hats,
clothing, stuffed animals, rugby ball, ballet slippers, sports jerseys, etc. –
please do! I will do my best to work them into the sets and let you know if I
cannot accommodate them.
It’s completely NORMAL for your baby to get a little fussy. Most of the time this can be solved with more heat, a little rocking, and a bit of patience. Your baby will likely require a feeding at some point during the session and this usually solves the more dramatic fussiness issues. At that point I will all take a break and you will be able to give your baby a feeding.
Clothing for parents and siblings: simple, solid colours; avoid logos.
I am well aware that babies seldom do what we would like them to do. They get hungry, have dirty diapers, cry or just become fussy for no particular reason. Please do not worry about this. We will stop and allow you to sooth baby. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal in mind:- we want a happy baby, calm parents and beautiful photos. We do not want this to be a stressful experience for anybody involved.
Moms are treated very kindly in our studio. We understand that you just gave birth and that you might also be sleep deprived. So relax. I will do most of the bending and hard work.

We insist on doing all outdoor photo sessions early in the morning or late afternoon for the best lighting options.
A travel fee might be applicable if travelling outside of Pretoria is expected.
Ideas of what to bring with for your pregnancy photo session
Pair of baby’s shoes;
Some of baby’s clothes;
A cute soft toy or any other toy that’s for baby;
A short top that shows your tummy [if you want];
Sonar photo;
You can also bring anything else that will show your feminine side like a lacy night gown, a button-up shirt with lace detail.
And then anything else that you would like to do.
The type of clothes will depend on you and what you feel comfortable in. A dress is usually a good idea for something soft and feminine. Trousers that you will be comfortable in with a buttom up shirt that shows your tummy.
Lace and soft materials usually looks lovely.
All of these are just suggestions. You are welcome to come with your own ideas.
The white chiffon dress below belongs to the studio and can be used in your photos shoot, as well as all the draping.
Make-up and hairstyling:-
The studio does not have an in-house make-up artist or hairstylist. Please arrange for your hair and make-up to be done before hand if you feel that you require a more stylish or polished looked.
It is however not necessary to have your hair and make-up done by a professional for your family photos. It is a personal choice and if you are comfortable doing your own, please do so. Especially if you would like to appear more natural.
We can also assist you with your baby’s newborn photo session, once the little bundle has been born.
