Wow! What a pleasant photo session this was. Little Karli and her big sister Anya are beautiful, well behaved children. They are very social and really enjoyed all the props.
I managed to take a record amount of images during their hour booking time because they arrived on time and where ready to start shooting.
They also communicated their wish list to me before the time so I was prepped and ready to go.
Furthermore, the kids where well rested and fed. This made my job a lot easier and gave me the opportunity to focus on the task at hand.

I do NOT travel for newborn sessions. I have a large amount of props, lighting equipment, and backdrops and it would not be feasible to travel with the quality of work I do.
I do all my newborn photo sessions in my studio in Silver Lakes, Pretoria East. You are welcome to contact me for special arrangements if you perhaps have a special needs baby, child or just circumstances that makes it difficult for you to travel.
How does it work?

Ideally, my preference from experience, is that newborns between 4-10 days old take the best photos.
After 10 days old the babies starts to stretch their limbs out a little more and are awake for longer periods of time.
However, if your baby is older than 10 days don’t fret, I will still get amazing photos. It might just take longer.
During your photo session I will take as many photos as possible. Afterwards you will receive a link to the gallery where you can view your images and make your selection.
The amount of images in the gallery will depend on how much time we had to shoot and how many images your package provides for.
If you are late, you will receive less images due to time constraints.
I will take photos of mom, dad and siblings during the same session. No additional session has to be booked for family photos.
We have a small and intimate studio. Our studio can accommodate 5 people at the most.
On the day of the shoot:-
Make sure baby has a nice, full tummy before you leave the house to come to the studio. This way, the baby will still be full and has probably fallen asleep in the car. I can immediately get started on the session when you arrive and hopefully get an hour or two of photos done before baby needs a feeding break.
I also recommend parents trying to keep their baby awake in the couple hours leading up to the session. If the baby has slept all morning and then arrives at my studio, they just might be ready for a long awake period, which makes the job of getting them sleepy all that much harder.
So, some tips are to play with baby, talk with baby, maybe even give the baby a bath before the session – whatever it takes to keep them alert for an hour or so. Then, when they arrive in my studio, they’ll be ready for a long nap!
Bring the baby in a button-up or zip-up sleeper. Preferably a loose fitting one. One of the worst things is when baby arrives sleepy in his/her carseat and then you have to remove shoes and socks, pants, and take a shirt off over their heads – which almost always wakes them up.
Instead, it’s so, so simple to zip down and slip off pyjamas while baby remains asleep! And if the pyjamas are loose-fitting, then ideally there won’t be many lines left behind on the baby’s skin. You can even bring your newborn in only a diaper and covered with a blanket. This minimizes lines on the baby’s skin for photos.
DO NOT forget the dummy!! If the baby takes a dummy, you can trust me
that you’ll want it there during the session!
My studio is HOT. Please dress lightly. This is for your babies comfort.
I have many, many props/sets/backdrops that we have collected for boys and girls. If you see a certain set design, style or backdrop on our website that you would like me to recreate with your newborn, it is important to let me know BEFORE you arrive so I can prepare. If you do not have any particular requests then I will choose and design the custom sets and have them ready before you arrive.
If you would like to
bring any additional props for the photo session – letters, numbers, hats,
clothing, stuffed animals, rugby ball, ballet slippers, sports jerseys, etc. –
please do! I will do my best to work them into the sets and let you know if I
cannot accommodate them.
It’s completely NORMAL for your baby to get a little fussy. Most of the time this can be solved with more heat, a little rocking, and a bit of patience. Your baby will likely require a feeding at some point during the session and this usually solves the more dramatic fussiness issues. At that point I will all take a break and you will be able to give your baby a feeding.
Clothing for parents and siblings: simple, solid colours; avoid logos.
I am well aware that babies seldom do what we would like them to do. They get hungry, have dirty diapers, cry or just become fussy for no particular reason. Please do not worry about this. We will stop and allow you to sooth baby. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal in mind:- we want a happy baby, calm parents and beautiful photos. We do not want this to be a stressful experience for anybody involved.
Moms are treated very kindly in our studio. We understand that you just gave birth and that you might also be sleep deprived. So relax. I will do most of the bending and hard work.
All images are colour corrected and digitally enhanced. Any advanced editing will be subject to an additional charge of ±R100 per image.
All images will be in colour, you can also select some images to be in black and white or with a filter.
Please allow ±two weeks for editing to be completed and photo gallery to be uploaded.
The final product will be forwarded to you via our online platform where you you can download your favourites in high resolution.
Please note that our packages do not include prints. Only digital high resolution images. Some of our package will include a photobook.
You are welcome to order your prints or gifts from us though our online system.

Studio Photography for families, children, babies, expecting parents.
I have been a full-time studio studio photographer for ±16 years now and operating in the Pretoria East area.
I work from my home based studio which is a quiet, comfortable and a private space.
Photography makes my heart beat a little faster and I especially love working with children. Loads of patience, understanding and kindness is needed to work with babies and children and I do believe that I possess these qualities.
I use a variety of Canon Camera Bodies and Lenses as well as Godox Lighting Equipment.
Back-up equipment are always on standby if needed.
During my 16 years of being a professional photographer, I have refined my process as follows:
Complete the booking form and pay the 50% booking fee.
Directions will be forwarded to you or you can find me on google maps.
I will also forward you an explanation of what to expect during your photo session, what to wear, how to prepare and my Terms and Conditions.
During your photo session I will take as many photos as possible. Afterwards you will receive a link to the gallery where you can view your images and make your selection.

If you are late or baby needs a bit more time to relax, you will receive less images due to time constraints.

We offer a variety of backgrounds and props. The options will be discussed with you before hand. You are also welcome to bring some props of your own.

What
to wear:-
Avoid clothes with bright patterns. Rather go for solid colours.
Blue jeans with plain tops work best.
Ladies should avoid baby doll dresses and shirts as these can easily add a few kg’s.
Wear clothes that you are comfortable in. If you feel self-conscious you will not photograph well.
In case of group photos, plan ahead and try to select a colour scheme that does not clash.
Take into account that babies and toddlers do not enjoy getting dressed and undressed. Try to keep outfit changes to a minimum.
Also keep in mind that you book an appointment for a specific amount of time eg. 1 hour or 30 minutes. If you have too many outfit changes, you will be eating into valuable shooting time.
If you are late, this time will be deducted from the shooting time.
Make-up and hairstyling:–
The studio does not have an in-house make-up artist or hairstylist. Please arrange for your hair and make-up to be done before hand if you feel that you require a more stylish or polished looked.
It is however not necessary to have your hair and make-up done by a professional for your family photos. It is a personal choice and if you are comfortable doing your own, please do so. Especially if you would like to appear more natural.
Babies and Toddles:-
Please bring your child’s favourite toys with. This will calm them down and I can use it to personalise the photos.
Make sure your child is well rested and fed before the shoot. Try and book your photo session with your child’s napping time in mind. In the event that your child is feeling under the weather, please reschedule. Sick children will not feel up for a photo shoot, leaving you disappointed with the end product.
Do not schedule a photo shoot for your baby or toddler within three days after an inoculation. Inoculations can make your baby feel miserable.
Keep in mind, that if your baby/toddler is not used to strangers or leaving the house, your photo session might not be the wonderful experience you envisioned.
Babies/toddlers that stay at home with a single caretaker and never leave the house, find the photography experience challenging and frightening. Keep your child’s personality and character in mind when booking your photo session.
